Gratitude: In January students begin a gratitude journal. This is an ongoing project through the end of the year, where children have the opportunity to draw, write, and explain the good that is in their life. Since students have approximately 25 entries, it stretches their thinking about all the wonderful things in their life and makes for a powerful reminder of what we have to be thankful for.
TRIMESTER 3 Goals: We will make goals for the home stretch of the school year. The students had to write a personal goal, an academic goal, and a goal of their choice. Who knew that some students wanted to practice jumping on their pogo stick more often?
Student of the day
Each day a student is selected to be the person of the day. Their responsibilities and privileges increase as the school year progresses. This classroom routine enables students to acquire a leadership role as well as effective positive interactions among their peers. Students look forward to their turn as person of the day, every child has multiple opportunities throughout the year, and it is a simple and effective system.
